Garda oil is diversified into three regions Olio del Garda DOP from Brescia ,Venetian Garda PDO oil,Trentino Garda DOP oil.
The Garda DOP oil from Brescia finds its main production in the lands of Valtenesi which is nothing more than a group of neighboring towns,seven to be precise, some along the coast overlooking the lake and others in the immediate hinterland nestled on the Moenic hills.
The towns that make up Valtenesi are Padenghe sul Garda,Moniga del Garda,Manerba del Garda,Polpenazze del Garda,San Felice del Benaco,Puegnago del Garda,Lake Soiano.
In these seven municipalities you get approximately 90% of the production of the highest quality Garda DOP oil.
You ask yourself why...and it is easy to say the microclimate that makes these lands unique for the production of an extra virgin olive oil of absolute quality.
The Venetian Garda DOP oil is mainly produced in the areas overlooking the lake, therefore we find the Bardolino area,Let it know,Peschiera del Garda and in the hinterland, the Grezzana area is very famous for its production.
Trentino Garda DOP oil is mainly produced in the Riva del Garda area,Arco,Malcesine and Rovereto.
Compared to the other two PDOs, the Trentino Garda PDO oil is slightly stronger while still remaining light which is the main quality of Garda extra virgin olive oil.
This year too, all three Garda PDOs achieved magnificent results, placing first in the fruity extra virgin olive oil categories,light extra virgin oil,monocultur extra virgin olive oil which means with only one type of olive in this case Casaliva.
